Nintendo Switch 2 has four times the storage of its predecessor, but the file sizes of first-party games suggest that users may not have to worry about expanding storage for a while. However, the size of third-party AAA games is quite large.
Nintendo Switch 2 comes with many upgrades. One of the most important ones is bigger storage. While the first generation came with 32GB of storage (64GB for the OLED model), the new model offers 256GB. Many people thought that the increase in storage space would be related to Switch 2 game sizes, but the new report reveals that file sizes won't be that big.
How much space do Nintendo Switch 2 games take up?
The biggest launch game, Mario Kart World, takes up about 10% of the total internal storage. Donkey Kong Bananza is listed as a 10 GB game. The sizes of the other games are as follows:
Mario Kart World - 23.4 GB
Donkey Kong Bananza - 10 GB
Nintendo Classics: GameCube app - 3.5 GB
Super Mario Party Jamboree Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV - 7.7 GB
Kirby and the Forgotten Land Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star Crossed World - 5.7 GB
Cyberpunk 2077 - 64 GB
The Nintendo Switch 2 is believed to use DLSS, which uses artificial intelligence to scale lower resolution images in real time for better image quality. This is why its games can have small file sizes but still offer high resolution. Nintendo has confirmed that the Switch 2 has a GPU that uses AI upscaling through DLSS and ray tracing. The Switch 2 is powered by a dedicated Nvidia processor with an Nvidia GPU. It offers features like 1080p play at 120 FPS in portable mode, 4K play in TV mode. It also has HDR support.
Nintendo Switch 2 will be available on June 5th with a price tag of $450.
