The capsule carrying the astronauts parachuted into the Gulf of Mexico after hours of travel.
Within an hour, they were out of their capsules, waving and smiling for the cameras and being rushed away on stretchers for routine medical examinations.
SURPRISE WELCOME TEAM
Meanwhile, an unexpected group of visitors greeted the astronauts. A pod of dolphins was seen swimming around the astronauts. NASA's Johnson Space Center wrote about the pod of dolphins on social media platform X, “Unplanned welcome team! Crew-9 welcomed some surprise visitors after splashdown this afternoon.”
“Mother Earth sent a welcome home party with a pod of dolphins,” social media users commented.
